For example in the practice area of personal injury, attorneys work on the basis of contingency fees. Working with an attorney on a contingency fee basis means that they only collect their fee if they win your case. 

If your case is won, your attorney will charge a contingency fee based on the amount of your settlement. This could range anywhere from 25 percent to 40+ percent of your settlement.

3. How will I be expected to pay for your services?

This can give you insight as to how potential attorneys work with their clients and can give you a more dynamic overview of each attorney. 

5. Do you have adequate availability to take on my case? 

You want to ensure that you will be well taken care of and that your attorney will have the time to devote to your case. 

With personal injury cases, timeliness can be crucial. Ensuring that you’ll be able to contact your attorney in a timely manner is important. 

Make sure that the attorney you are considering hiring will be able to personally consult with you on your case and that your case will not be handled by a case manager or paralegal.

6. How often can I expect updates regarding my case? 

Upfront expectations can be helpful in times of uncertainty with personal injury cases. Knowing how often you will receive information about your case can help ease your mind as the legal process can take time. 

7. What is my role in the process?
